Jetour’s Dashing and X70 Plus have been refreshed with more power and lower starting prices. Here’s what’s changed and what they cost in SA.
Jetour’s First Two SUVs Just Got Their First Real Update
Nearly two years after launching in South Africa, the Jetour Dashing and X70 Plus have received their first meaningful mid-life refresh — and the news is genuinely good for buyers: both models now produce more power while their entry-level pricing has actually dropped.
A Quick Note Before We Go Further
This is a fresh launch article covering confirmed updates and pricing, not a full behind-the-wheel test of the facelifted models — Jetour only revealed these changes in July 2026 via a media reveal event in KwaZulu-Natal, so we haven’t logged proper kilometres in either updated model yet. What follows is grounded in confirmed manufacturer specifications and pricing.
What’s Actually Changed Under the Bonnet
Both the Dashing and X70 Plus swap their previous 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which produced 115kW and 230Nm, for an uprated version of the same configuration now delivering 125kW and 270Nm — genuinely meaningful gains of 10kW and 40Nm. That engine now pairs with a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, replacing the outgoing six-speed unit. Jetour says the changes bring “stronger performance, improved efficiency and a more refined driving experience,” though a detailed fuel consumption figure specific to these updated models hasn’t been published yet, beyond the X70 Plus’s listed 6.9 litres per 100km average.
Both models also gain expanded driver-assistance technology, including Level 2 autonomous driving functions, a 540-degree camera system, and broader safety enhancements — a genuinely useful upgrade for buyers cross-shopping this segment on tech and safety rather than just price.
New Names, New Pricing
Jetour has retired the old Momentum and Deluxe trim names in favour of new Prestige and Prime grades across both ranges. The Dashing 1.5T Prestige now starts at R429,900 — R10,000 less than its predecessor — while the range-topping Prime commands R479,900, a R10,000 increase over the outgoing flagship. The X70 Plus follows the same pattern: the Prestige starts at R444,900 (down R10,000), with the Prime priced at R494,900 (up R10,000).
That pricing shift is worth understanding rather than just noting — Jetour has effectively sharpened its entry point to compete harder on value, while asking a bit more for the fully loaded derivative. Both ranges are backed by a 5-year/150,000km vehicle warranty, a 10-year/1,000,000km engine warranty for the first owner, and a 5-year/60,000km service plan.
What You Actually Get for the Money
The refreshed Dashing gets sporty red exterior accents across its flanks, front and rear, alongside an eight-speaker Sony sound system, privacy glass, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic glass sunroof, and heated and ventilated front seats on the Prime derivative. The X70 Plus, meanwhile, receives a redesigned front grille with brushed-aluminium accents and new 19-inch alloy wheels, alongside similarly upgraded interior comfort features.
Both models are now rolling out to Jetour’s network of more than 55 South African dealerships, giving buyers reasonably wide access to test drive either updated SUV without much of a wait.
Should You Consider One?
If you were already eyeing the Dashing or X70 Plus, this refresh genuinely sweetens the deal at the entry level — more power, a smoother transmission, and expanded safety tech for less money than before. The Prime derivatives cost a little more, but the added standard equipment arguably justifies that gap for buyers wanting the fuller package.
We’ll follow up with proper driving impressions once we’ve had real seat time in both updated models.
